In one week time, the Mets will be back in New York preparing for a Thursday matinee, Opening Day, versus the St.Louis Cardinals.
We know that Noah Syndergaard will be starting, and we have a pretty good idea of what the roster will look like. With that being said, there are still quite a few un-answered questions that need a resolution before the Mets leave for New York.
So today, we are going to take a look at one of these questions. If you have any other questions that you believe are of importance, feel free to share them on Twitter @NikoMetsPlus, via email, or in the comments down below.
Vargas is Down. What do we do?
As most of you know, Jason Vargas sustained an injury on his non-throwing arm, requiring surgery, and will be out until at least the second week of the season, and potentially longer. Powerful arms outside the organization like Arrieta and Cobb have been swallowed up by other ball clubs, thus an internal replacement is the most probable solution.
Considering a lefty in the rotation is always of importance, my guess would be Matz, but he’s been dreadful all Spring Training, despite a quality start against the Astros (6 IP, 2 ER) on Monday.
