Tonight, the Mets can accomplish something that they haven’t accomplished since the year 2000. They can clinch a World Series berth. All they need to do is win one game out of the next four. The only time an opponent has come back from a 3-0 deficit was in 2004 when the Red Sox came back from 3 games to none to defeat the Yankees and eventually defeat the Cardinals in the Fall Classic. Luckily for the Mets, the 2015 Cubs are not the 2004 Boston Red Sox. The Cubs have played sloppy defense, in-consistent offense, and shaky outings by their star pitchers.
If the Mets make it to the World Series, and I’m confident that they will, then they will be able to start the series with deGrom, Harvey and the Syndergaard. The Royals will be able to throw Johnny Cueto in Game one, but not much else in terms of “household” names after that.
This postseason has happened so fast, so it’s almost hard to grasp what exactly the Mets are on the verge of accomplishing. That and I’m still waiting for my “The East is Ours” sweatshirt. I ordered in on MLB.com Shop about a week ago, and the USPS says that the package is in St.Louis. By the time the shirt arrives, they will be selling “The National League is ours” shirts. Even the players have said that is hasn’t sunk in yet.
Let’s hope we win tonight, I hope that there are some fans that made the drive or got a last minute fare to celebrate with them.
