This certainly has been the postseason to remember for Daniel Murphy. He has hit four home runs in 6 postseason games, all off Jon Lester, Clayton Kershaw and Zack Grenkie, arguably three of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball.
According to the Washington Post, “It also gave the 30-year-old player, who hit 14 homers in 130 games this season, a tie for the most in any Mets postseason with Rusty Staub (1973), Mike Piazza (2000) and Carlos Delgado (2006).”
And we are only in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, where we are guaranteed four more games, and hopefully plenty more.
Murphy was also asked post game if he believed that his last name had any connection to the Cubs goat. He called it a coincidence. For a full game recap of last night’s exciting series opener, click here.
