The Mets commence their second series of the year tonight, this time, they are in Atlanta. Atlanta came off a sweep of the highly praised Miami Marlins this past week, more notably after trading their star closer, Craig Kimbrel. While Jason Grilli is a good closer, he is no Kimbrel. Nonetheless, it’s always good to come into a game after a sweep. The Mets, don’t have a sweep, but they have the next best thing. Two out of three against their arch division rival, the Washington Nationals.
Friday: LHP Jonathon Niese (0-0, –) vs. LHP Eric Stults (0-0, –), 7:35 p.m. ET
Saturday: RHP Dillon Gee (0-0, –) vs. RHP Julio Teheran (1-0, 1.50), 7:10 p.m. ET
Sunday: RHP Bartolo Colon (1-0, 1.50) vs. LHP Alex Wood (1-0, 3.60), 1:35 p.m. ET
While standings are still meaningless, it’s worth noting that two out of three victories in Atlanta would put us in first place for the Home Opener. I tiny tidbit, but would be nice for the home opener (which is sold out, by the way).
