So far this offseason, the Mets have signed one major player, Michael Cuddyer, to a two year deal in early November. The Mets have since been mute, only signing minor league players and trades that barely make the local newspaper. What can the Mets do now? Sign someone before the free agent market dries up…. if it hasn’t already. All along, the Mets fan-base (including me) has been pushing for the Mets to sign a big-name hitter (Castro, Tulo.. exc.). The problem is, you look at that, and you see that I wrote exc. indicating that there are a lot more guys out their that would be great candidates for the job, but are there? Frankly, I would be challenged to find another big name shortstop out there. Reports say that Tulowitzki to the Mets has a 5% chance of happening at best. The Cubs are reluctant to trade Castro, or any of their five shortstops ready for the big leagues. So, will the Mets make another signing or trade this offseason to get a bat or a reliever? I don’t think so. The Mets have made it clear that they are confident in Shortstop, when I’m very wary on that front. Alas, again, only time will tell.
Will the Mets sign anyone else this offseason?
