AAA HR Derby Recap 2014

Today, the AAA All Star HR Derby took place in Durham, NC. At this great event, 6 of the best AAA rising sluggers took the field!

The participants were Francisco Pena, Allen Dykstra, Mike Jacobs, Juan Agulat, Mike Mahtook and Matt Hague. The home runs were few because of a huge wall in Left Field.>

Fun rules were added to the game, such as a new last out Composite Bat rule, where a hitter had the option of using a metal bat during his last swing! Allen Dykstra (Mets Prospect) got lucky in the final rounds, as his opposition couldn’t get a single ball over the wall. Dykstra ( see video below) promptly slugged one over the right field fence to win the crown. This is the second time in three years that a Mets prospect won the AAA Derby (Val Passcuci 2012). Two minutes after Dykstra won it, the rain came on down and the post game fireworks and concert was cancelled. #DurhamASG
